The idea behind the Orion Sound Module plugin is to provide a rompler based on public domain samples that can be used to create royalty-free loops. At first, I made the plugin for my own loop production but I decided to share it with the world in the spirit of giving back to the community that gave me so much. The result is a 3gigs rompler full of great sounds that cover the basics: pianos, basses, percussion, world instruments, analogue synthesizers and modular synthesis. Orion Sound Module sports a simple and intuitive interface made to be easy to work with. Ace is a faithful digital emulation of a legendary 1950s, American, all tube, tweed, 5W amp. We have added to the model two of the most common amplifier mods: adjustment of the amount of feedback and addition of grid stopper resistors, both of which can be turned off for the original amp sound. For added flexibility, speaker emulation can be switched out in case you want to use a different speaker emulator. Ace also features 2x, 4x, or 8x selectable oversampling. SGA1566 is loosely based on a single channel vintage tube preamplifier. We have made some changes to the original schematic, added tone controls, and made it stereo. To achieve the most authentic analog sound, the whole circuit is simulated in real time using the high performance circuit simulator. However, this level of sound fidelity comes at a price of high CPU utilization. For cases where such a CPU hit is prohibitive, we have added a model that is significantly less CPU intensive but slightly less accurate than the circuit simulation. The Beatles recorded most of their material using this, and other versions of this console. Easily recognized overdriven sound of the Beatles' Revolution was created by chaining two preamps from this console. Drum Boxx Synth is our new freeware VST drum synthesizer that is designed to create thousands of unique synthetic drum sounds for sampling and production! Drum Boxx is our take on the outstanding Smackbox project designed by developer Stefan. Drum Boxx has 12 individual signal channels. Each signal channel contains an individual drum synthesizer that can be routed into 3 individual stereo outputs. Output 1 is a direct output channel with no effects. Output 2 is sent through our specialized tempo synced delay effect. Output 3 is sent through our specialized chorus/flanger effect. Each of the 12 individual drum synthesizers can be tweaked, pitched, filtered, equalized, and distorted independently from each other and saved as part of a kit. Moreover, you can independently add noise and other velocity controls to each drum synthesizer making the sonic palette available with Drum Boxx extremely vast! The original Smackbox had a fun "Mad Scientist" vibe that we chose to maintain. In addition to providing a GUI makeover, we updated the original coding to make Drum Boxx a VST 2.4 effect, added effects to the routing system, improved performance and overall sound sculpting abilities. In the end, we feel honored and glad to have the opportunity to introduce Drum Boxx as a worthy successor to the original Smackbox project.
