SoftDrive GV is a virtual-analog model of the Marshall "Guv'nor" and "Guv'nor GV-2 Plus" guitar distortion effects. The Guv'nor is a solid-state distortion pedal first issued in 1989 to recreate the sound of a cranked-up Marshall stack in a small stomp-box format. It became rather popular in the 90's and is still used widely nowadays for its quality high-gain sound and its tonal versatility. It was re-issued in early 2000 in an updated housing and incorporating a new "Deep" control to mimic the effect of a JCM2000's "Deep" switch. This VST model is a tribute to the original effect and models the circuits of both the "vanilla" Guv'nor and its modern GV-2 variant. SoftDrive GV expands on the original design and brings in new possibilities unthinkable of the outside of the digital realm. In the spirit of my prior creations, this plug-in also features a few things to visualize what's going on inside the box. CharBooster is a composite overdrive effect tailored specifically to be used as booster in front of any virtual amplifier model. It essentially consists of a pre-emphasis filter section designed to provide a variation of voicings for your instrument followed by a saturation circuit that excites the signal with harmonics while still being as transparent as possible. The UI is not trying to look like a hardware stomp box but rather has a range of meters and scopes to provide an insight on what is going on with your signal. The tube model used in the saturation stage is similar to the one used in Softamp 3OD, however the modeled circuit is different. The tape model is a very simplified one. It has only the nonlinear transfer curve and dynamic frequency response modeled. Wow & flutter effects as well as phase smearing were omitted keep the CPU consumption low. It is loosely based on the Ampex ATR-102 tape recorder. SoftAmp GT is a virtual emulation of a well-known analog guitar amplifier simulator stomp-box. The prototype is a solid state circuit that uses op-amps to saturate the signal and moderate filtering to shape the tone throughout the signal path. The speaker simulation is achieved by a steep low-pass filter as well as some middle-frequency manipulation to resemble different microphone positions. All controls of the original device are faithfully reproduced in this plug-in in addition to some unique ones described below. The original stomp-box was somewhat criticized for having a symmetrical hard-clipping saturation and there were a lot of attempts to modify the circuit to provide smoother tube-like sound by the community. Variations included using different op-amps and using a bipolar transistor to introduce the asymmetrical clipping. Download We dont host any software files here. Usable metering is essential for any engineer, and GŌN’s options are equally practical, with a notable absence of controls. Unlike an oscilloscope which takes up room on your producer’s desk or meter bridge, GŌN’s lack of any knobs or switches means its straightforward user interface contains only a single button, the preference’s gear icon at upper right. Control over gain, focus, “phosphor” colour, drawing style and persistence are all there in the preferences, and everything can be saved as a personal preset. All of GŌN’s functionality is wrapped in an information-rich yet visually unobtrusive user interface that occupies only a small slice of screen real estate. Likewise, the plug-in is very "lightweight" demanding an absolute minimum of CPU resources so it won´t slow down your host.
